About a month ago, Anonymous said that they would shut down the whole internet on 31 march 2012.
But, 31 march 2012 is in some countries already 1st april, because of the timezone difference.
So it might be a joke, but this is how they would so it:
-The whole internet runs on 13 DNS rootservers.
A DNS rootserver does the following:
-You want to browse to http://www.google.com/
=> Your computer sends a request to a DNS server, and retrieves the IP of www.google.com
=> Your computer browses to that ip.
SO, if the DNS servers are shut down, nobody can access any website because the computer doesn't know the IP addresss of that website.
How are they going to do it?
Well simple, they are going to DDoS the DNS servers.
Since there are only 13, it's not that hard
What do you think, can they do it or not?
